List of Certified Designers, Tech Editors and Graders
True size inclusive designs have a clear focus on understanding how body proportions change as they get larger and smaller, and as body shapes change. In 2024, I developed stage 1 of my Size Inclusive Design certification programme to help designers who wish to upgrade their skills and develop designs that are truly size inclusive.
In my Introduction to Size Inclusive Design course, designers, tech editors, and graders learn how to create true size inclusive designs through:
- What is Size Inclusion?
- Designing for a wide range of body sizes
- Working and building your own size chart and sizing standards
- Methods of grading for size inclusion
- All about ease and how it pertains to body size
- How to offer excellent sizing guidance in your patterns
- An introduction to working with necklines, shoulders, bust, waist, and hip shaping
- An introduction to sleeve and armhole fit and shaping
- Strategies for adding modification information to your patterns
What Participants are saying…
This class was so important to me during these early stages of my first design and my interest in tech editing! I knew I would be diving into the deep end and I was scared. I always felt supported and found conversations about fit, language and industry standards extremely engaging. I excited to see how this work impacts the thoughtfulness around garment fit and radical acts pertaining to body acceptance.

Kim McBrien Evans’ Introduction to Size Inclusive Design class provided an amazing opportunity to deepen my knowledge of how to design garments that both fit and flatter individuals of all sizes and shapes.
Kim’s instruction was thorough and she challenged each of us, through class discussions and assignments, to become much more analytical about design in order to understand where fit problems occur and how to address them with skill.
Kim’s feedback was instructive and improved my understanding of design. Each class left me energized and eager to apply what I was learning to my design practice.

Kim provided a very well-structured course while still tailoring content and assignments to be relevant to the mixed group of designers, tech editors and makers.
This is a high-value course not only in terms of the content and resources provided but also for the community and network formed within the group, through which I believe we will all continue to share & learn from each other.
